HOW DOES AN AYURVEDA PROFESSIONAL HELP
Ayurveda means the knowledge of life. It’s a health system that is used to help everyone live a more vital life. As an Ayurvedic practitioner, I am able to teach and provide information regarding alternative ways to enjoy your favorite foods. My focus in my practice is nutrition and lifestyle management. Learning to cook various foods from scratch has also been a tool I use in my arsenal to help those wanting to manage their consumption of things that go against their body type. Providing step by step recipes to my clients and blog readers has been beneficial. This is the way that I can reach many people that are not local to my state.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH CAFFEINE
Caffeine can be found in coffee beans, tea leaves, and cacao beans. It can be found in other things but we will keep the discussion to coffee, tea and cacao for this blog post. Caffeine is a stimulant that is considered natural but according to Ayurveda it is something that should be avoided if you have a tendency to experience nervousness and anxiety. Once you determine that this is your case you can find alternatives such as Chicory root and Golden milk. The recipe to these which I recommend to my clients is below.
I will discuss in a later post a more in depth reason to find an alternative to coffee. In the meantime, enjoy the print-ready recipes below. I demonstrated how to make these live on CBS 6. The recipes shouldn’t be hard to follow. Take your time making it and comment below if you have tried it. The recipes have already received five (5) stars which is fun to see.
AYURVEDIC CHICORY ROOT COFFEE
Below is the recipe for how I make Chicory root coffee. You can find more information on chicory root on my blog post Ayurvedic Chicory Root Coffee. Please note that this root is not safe for those pregnant or breastfeeding. However, you can use the other alternative recipes such as my Golden Milk and Cocoa Chia Shake.
Chicory Root Caffeine Free Coffee
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: This is not safe for those pregnant and breastfeeding
Ingredients
- 1 Packet Teecino Herbal Chicory Root Caffeine Free Coffee
Instructions
-
Boil water and let it cool for a few minutes before adding your tea bag. Never add your Ayurvedic herbs to boiling water so your tea will not taste burned or too bitter. You also want to preserve the nutritional value of the herbs. Keep the bag in for a few seconds or longer depending on how strong you want your drink to be.
You can add sweetner or non-dairy milk to your taste.
Alternative: Purchase the loose and Grounded Chicory Root
-
Same instructions as above. You would just brew this the same way you would do coffee. Or you can place it on the stove in a pot of hot water. Just don't let it boil. Add your favorite sweetener, maybe some dandelion root, cocoa powder and your favorite nut milk or nut creamer.
AYURVEDIC GOLDEN MILK
One of my favorite drinks to have instead of drinking coffee is golden milk. This recipe yields a warm and creamy drink. If you enjoy coffee because its a warm beverage, or its therapeutic to brew your own drink, then try this drink.
Golden Milk
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp Ground Turmeric
- 1 pinch Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Ground Ashwagandha
- 1/4 cup Hemp Milk
- 1 tsp Raw Agave
- 1 cup Hot Water
Instructions
-
Add all of the ingredients and stir using a spoon or blender. I like to use an electrical milk frother in order to get a nice foam like you would if you went to a coffee shop. The taste is very smooth. Adjust the sweetener and other ingredients to your taste. You can always use less or more if you'd like. This is a very simple recipe. Enjoy.
AYURVEDIC COCOA CHIA SHAKE
Below is another good alternative to coffee. Despite the fact that its cold, the chia seed in this drink brings you the feeling of being more focused like coffee. The cocoa is dark like coffee and has a bitter taste. You can add your preferred sweetener or follow my exact recipe below.
Cocoa Chia Shake
Ingredients
- 1 cup Raw Almonds
- 1 cup Hemp Milk
- 2 cups Frozen Ice
- 1 tbsp Raw Agave
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Chia Seeds
- 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
Instructions
-
Add all of your ingredients to a high speed blender. Add water to thin out your shake or add more raw almonds to thicken it. Enjoy!
